National Heritage Science Forum (NHSF)
ActiveDescription
The National Heritage Science Forum (NHSF) is a UK membership organisation and registered charity that brings together the producers and users of heritage science to improve collaboration across the sector. It defines heritage science as the application of science and technology to cultural heritage in order to improve its understanding, management and public engagement. NHSF's members are organisations, major national bodies, museums, galleries, archives and universities active in the field, and they shape the Forum's strategy and lead its work streams. The Forum works to build sector capacity through strategic partnerships, to promote knowledge and skills sharing across a diverse interdisciplinary community, to align heritage science with national priorities, and to act as a voice for the sector to policy and opinion-forming bodies. It coordinates delivery of the UK Strategic Framework for Heritage Science and runs activities including the annual Trends in Heritage Science conference, a mentoring programme, seminars, policy briefings and consultation responses, impact demonstration, and the Heritage Science Workforce Survey. NHSF is a partner in the RICHeS programme (Research Infrastructure for Conservation and Heritage Science) and its Heritage Science Data Service.
