The National Archives
ActiveDescription
The National Archives collect and secure the future of the government record, from Shakespeare’s will to tweets from Downing Street, to preserve it for generations to come, making it as accessible and available as possible.
Research and academic collaboration is also at the heart of what the team does at The National Archives. Research at The National Archives spans a variety of disciplines and a range of research interests. Researchers collaborate on research projects with a number of different partners, and the team at the National Archives welcomes suggestions for new projects and collaborations. The research-active staff regularly contribute to and lead pioneering inter-disciplinary research projects, publish in peer-reviewed journals, speak at academic conferences, and participate in postgraduate teaching and supervision.
The National Archives is recognised as an Independent Research Organisation by the Arts and Humanities Research Council. This means that they collaborate with international partners to conduct world-class interdisciplinary research projects and that they are eligible to apply to any of the UK’s seven research councils for funding.
