Heritage Science Data Service (HSDS)
ActiveDescription
The Heritage Science Data Service (HSDS) provides core digital research services as part of the Research Infrastructure for Conservation and Heritage Science (RICHeS) programme, the UK's national research infrastructure for conservation and heritage science. Developed and managed by the Archaeology Data Service (ADS) at the University of York, in partnership with STFC's Hartree Centre, the HSDS unlocks potential for innovation in heritage science and conservation research and its capacity to understand, preserve, manage and engage with UK heritage.
The service provides an accredited and FAIR digital repository for heritage science data, including data from RICHeS collections and facilities investments and RICHeS Access Fund awardees; the HSDS Catalogue of Services and Data Catalogue, which help users discover and access heritage science and conservation collections, facilities and datasets from across the UK; a suite of Virtual Research Environments and software tools developed with the STFC Hartree Centre; and a Small Grants Programme supporting access to heritage science resources. The service runs from 2024 to 2029, developed by a consortium of UK heritage bodies, and provides the UK DIGILAB hub for E-RIHS, the European Research Infrastructure for Heritage Science. Follow the service on Bluesky and LinkedIn.
