Dumfriesshire and Galloway Natural History and Antiquarian Society (DGNHAS), also known as D&G Heritage, is a learned society for the human history, archaeology and natural history of Dumfries and Galloway. Founded at a meeting in Dumfries on 20 November 1862, re-constituted in 1876 after a lapse, and a registered Scottish charity since 1933, it publishes its Transactions, issued more or less annually since 1862 across three series and standing at Series III volume 98 for 2024. The full run is listed on the society's own website, with the most recent volumes reserved for members, and in recent decades the journal has carried rescue and other excavation reports undertaken for Historic Environment Scotland and other official bodies.
It runs a season of eleven winter lecture meetings at The Bridge in Dumfries, offers limited grants for excavations and other research, runs an annual research competition for senior school pupils, and exchanges its Transactions with ten societies and institutes in the UK and beyond, the exchange volumes being held in the library of Dumfries Museum. Its own archive from 1862 is catalogued and held by the Dumfries and Galloway Library and Archive Service, and a searchable index covers the papers in the Transactions. Membership is by subscription.
