UKRI Centre for Doctoral Training in AI for Digital Media Inclusion

Active

Description

The UKRI Centre for Doctoral Training in AI for Digital Media Inclusion is a doctoral training centre jointly delivered by the University of Surrey, through the Surrey Institute for People-Centred AI, and Royal Holloway, University of London, through StoryFutures. Established in 2023 as one of twelve UK Research and Innovation centres for doctoral training in artificial intelligence, and welcoming its founder cohort in 2024, it trains doctoral researchers to develop inclusive, personalised and accessible digital media. Its themes span responsible AI ethics, fairness and trust in media, accessible media production, immersive storytelling and AI for education, wellbeing and cultural inclusion, drawing applicants from computer science, social science, arts, law and creative-industry backgrounds. The centre works with more than one hundred challenge partners across broadcasting, creative technology and the cultural sector, including the BBC, Channel 4, English Heritage and the National Film and Television School, and is funded by UK Research and Innovation.
