Please note that this is a legacy entry reflecting past infrastructure activity and contributions. It is not currently active.

Description

FutureEverything was a Manchester cultural agency working at the intersection of art, technology and society, active from 1995 to 2026. Founded as the Futuresonic festival of electronic music and media art, it grew into an innovation lab and research and development agency, producing festivals, exhibitions, artist-development programmes and applied projects in open data, smart cities, artificial intelligence and ecological futures. It created one of Europe's first open data initiatives, the Greater Manchester Datastore, and led the culture strand of the CityVerve internet of things demonstrator, alongside artificial intelligence arts exhibitions and the Nature Directed initiative on ecological governance. A community interest company, it closed in April 2026 after thirty-one years, citing financial difficulties amid a crisis in United Kingdom arts funding.
