DigVentures
ActiveDescription
DigVentures is a Barnard Castle-based social enterprise that designs and delivers participatory, crowdfunded and crowdsourced archaeology. Founded in 2012, it is a Chartered Institute for Archaeologists Registered Organisation and was the first CIfA Accredited Fieldschool, running community excavations, training and fieldwork alongside universities and heritage bodies and publishing excavation and post-excavation reports. Its Digital Dig Team platform and Deep Time initiative extend the model into digital recording, citizen science and nature recovery. Recent and current excavations include Lindisfarne with Durham University and Rossett Roman Villa with the University of Chester.
