ActiveDescription
The Horizon Centre for Doctoral Training, known as Horizon CDT and branded Creating Our Lives in Data, is a doctoral training centre at the University of Nottingham, based at the Nottingham Geospatial Building on Jubilee Campus. Funded by UK Research and Innovation through the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, with the University of Nottingham and more than forty industry partners, it has trained doctoral researchers across successive cohorts since 2009, with its current funding phase awarded in 2019. Its interdisciplinary programme welcomes applicants from arts, social science and science backgrounds and spans the digital economy, human-data interaction, data ethics and responsible research and innovation, alongside a recurring strand of creative-arts and cultural-heritage projects, from mixed-reality Holocaust education to artificial intelligence in interactive artworks and adaptive cinema. It works with cultural and creative partners including the National Videogame Museum, Nottingham Contemporary, FACT, Blast Theory, the National Holocaust Centre and Museum, Lakeside Arts and BBC Research and Development.
