Oxford Collaboration in Heritage science Research and Engagement (OCHRE)

Active

Description

OCHRE (Oxford Collaboration in Heritage science Research and Engagement) is a cross-disciplinary University of Oxford initiative that brings together researchers and professionals working in heritage and conservation science. Its aim is to work creatively and coherently together to develop better ways of sharing facilities and infrastructure, and to nurture a diverse community advancing heritage and conservation science research and engagement across the University. OCHRE has representation from all four academic divisions of the University (Humanities; Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences; Medical Sciences; and Social Sciences), together with Continuing Education and Gardens, Libraries and Museums (GLAM), with members drawn from departments including Engineering Science, Chemistry, Archaeology, Geography and the Oxford Internet Institute, and from the Ashmolean Museum, Pitt Rivers Museum, Museum of Natural History, History of Science Museum and the Bodleian Library. It is hosted within the Oxford University Heritage Network and is co-convened by members from across the collaboration. OCHRE is supported by the UKRI Arts and Humanities Research Council through the RICHeS programme (Research Infrastructure for Conservation and Heritage Science), funding a shared heritage science hub and new equipment across participating University laboratories, libraries and museums.
