Archives and Records Association (UK & Ireland)
ActiveDescription
The Archives and Records Association (UK & Ireland) is the professional membership organisation and leading professional body for the record-keeping sector: archivists, records managers and archive conservators across the UK and Ireland, and those working internationally. Its mission is to expand the care, accessibility and meaningful use of records, bridging the gap between past, present and future. It was established on 1 June 2010 through the merger of the National Council on Archives, the Association of Chief Archivists in Local Government and the Society of Archivists. Its membership comprises over 2,000 individuals and organisations working across the public, private, educational and charitable sectors, supported by a small permanent staff team, an elected Board of Trustees and more than 450 volunteers. It promotes the highest professional standards through professional registration and continuing professional development, and runs training, events, publications, awards and bursaries for the sector.
