Migration Museum
ActiveDescription
The Migration Museum explores how the movement of people to and from the UK across the ages has shaped individual, community and national identity. Treating migration as a pressing contemporary issue with a long history, the Museum notes that, unlike many other countries, the UK has no permanent migration museum. It stages award-winning, story-led exhibitions and events alongside a far-reaching education programme for primary, secondary, university and adult learners, maintains a growing digital presence, and convenes a knowledge-sharing Migration Network of museums, heritage organisations and professionals across the UK. Having operated from a series of temporary venues (most recently in Lewisham, south-east London, where it welcomed over 200,000 visitors between 2020 and March 2025) it has been given the go-ahead for a permanent home in the City of London, due to open in 2028
