Digital Skills in Arts and Humanities Network (DISKAH)
ActiveDescription
The Digital Skills in Arts and Humanities Network (DISKAH) is an interdisciplinary network involving several universities and researchers co-designing a training programme to support the Arts and Humanities (A&H) community in leveraging UK Digital Research Infrastructures (DRI), to further unlock research potential. It provides training, resources and access to networks to support fellows in engaging with DRI for Arts and Humanities research, and aims to build capacity amongst A&H researchers in the use of national DRI to foster innovation and collaboration. DISKAH is developed by an interdisciplinary partnership of Higher Education Institutions, national Digital Research Infrastructure and High Performance Computing facilities. Coordinated at the University of Brighton, it was initiated through a collaboration between the University of Brighton, Durham University, the University of the Arts London, the University of Exeter and its partners the N8 Centre of Excellence in Computationally Intensive Research (N8 CIR), King’s Digital Lab, UCL’s Centre for Advanced Research Computing and DARIAH-EU. It is funded through the UKRI Digital Research Infrastructure Programme.
Through its fellowships, DISKAH provide an opportunity to broaden engagement with large-scale computational methods via national digital research infrastructure to support A&H research, with a flat rate paid to fellows’ institutions to buy out a percentage of their time. Its Associate Fellowships provide access to supportive networks, professional development, and training opportunities designed to help people progress with their research and practice. DISKAH builds on previous projects piloting approaches to digital skills in Arts and Humanities, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) under the Embed digital skills in arts and humanities research scheme, to address the digital skills gap within the arts and humanities research community.
