Centre for Protecting Women Online (CPWO)

Active

Description

The Centre for Protecting Women Online (CPWO) at The Open University is funded by a £7.7 million grant from Research England. It describes itself as the vehicle for understanding and addressing challenges posed to women’s safety online through an interdisciplinary research agenda, and the centre reports that its outputs and interventions inform law, policy, technology development and practice to reduce online harms suffered by women and girls. Its work is delivered through five work streams: Law and Policy, Human Behaviour, The Future of Responsible Tech, Ethical and Responsible Tech/AI, and Policing. It was officially opened on 8 October 2024. It holds an annual conference and publishes evidence submissions, reports and journal articles. Follow the centre on LinkedIn.
