Index on Censorship

Active

Description

Index on Censorship is a non-profit, non-partisan organisation that has campaigned for and defended freedom of expression worldwide for over 50 years. Its work is organised under four strands. It informs by publishing an award-winning quarterly magazine and original journalism on global free-expression issues. It influences by identifying pressing threats to free expression and running advocacy campaigns that combine research, reporting and media work to shift public attitudes and reform legislation. It debates through an events programme of performances, exhibitions, talks and concerts that brings together artists, journalists, politicians, academics and activists. It supports individuals battling censorship in journalism, the arts and campaigning through the Freedom of Expression Awards Fellowship, a year-long programme of personalised support.
