UK-China Humanities Alliance for Higher Education (UKCHA)

Description

The UK-China Humanities Alliance for Higher Education (UKCHA) is dedicated to promoting cross-cultural dialogue and collaborative research in the humanities between Chinese and UK universities. It was founded in 2016 as a cross-institutional structure to facilitate collaboration in humanities research and education. Its Secretariat is housed at the Institute for World Literatures and Cultures (IWLC), Tsinghua University, and the University of Manchester holds the leadership of the UK Coordinating Team and coordinates UK-based activities.

There are eight Chinese member institutions and ten UK member institutions. The Alliance arranges an annual conference, held alternately in the UK and China, and its 10th conference is at SOAS University of London on 3 and 4 November 2026.
