The British Numismatic Society (BNS) exists to promote the study and understanding of British numismatics, broadly the coinage, tokens, banknotes and medals of the British Isles and former parts of the British Empire. It was founded on 18 June 1903 by three members of the older Numismatic Society of London, and is a registered charity which reported 619 members in November 2024.

The Society holds monthly lectures, hosts an annual Summer Meeting alongside the Royal Numismatic Society, and publishes the British Numismatic Journal and a Special Publications series. It awards prizes and medals and offers research grants and student bursaries. Its library is combined with that of the Royal Numismatic Society and housed at the Warburg Institute.
