Creative Health and Wellbeing Group (CHWG)
ActiveDescription
The Creative Health and Wellbeing Group (CHWG) is an interdisciplinary research group jointly run by the School of Communication & Creativity and the School of Health and Medical Sciences at City St George's, University of London. It produces impact-led research that integrates the arts, humanities, and health sciences, generating creative initiatives supporting health and wellbeing. The group understands Creative Health as the use of creative and cultural activities, including performing arts (music and dance), visual arts, film and literature, to improve physical and mental wellbeing and resilience.
A Creative Arts and Health Forum on 29 May 2026, jointly curated by the two Schools, formed part of a symposium held by the university's centre Sound Practice and Research at City St George's (SPARC). One of the group's co-directors leads work on arts and health within the university's Centre for Health and Care Innovation Research.
