King's Past
ActiveDescription
The King's Past project explores the history of King's College London and its national and global connections. It is an initiative that seeks to investigate and publicise this past in new ways: through detailed historical investigation of thirteen key moments integral to the King's story, the project seeks to reveal the contradictions in an institution that has benefited from the exploitation of enslaved people and from colonial oppression and yet has also offered a route for people from marginalised populations to access opportunity and power. The project is a platform for that process of research and communication, bringing together research and researchers, from undergraduates to senior professors, interested in excavating the history of King's College London and its local, national and global connections. Based in the Department of History, King's Past is part of the Global Cultures Institute. Its online platform charts the history of King's through these moments and holds a database of people, organisations, places, events and donations.
