The History of Libraries Seminar concentrates on examining all aspects of the provision of libraries during all periods of history and all countries. Talks are based on substantial original research and are usually by established researchers, and new students are also encouraged to present their research. The seminar describes itself as jointly sponsored by the Institute of English Studies, the Institute of Historical Research, the Warburg Institute and the Library & Information History Group of CILIP. Sessions are usually hybrid, most often at the Warburg Institute, with at least one held at Senate House Library and one held fully online.
