Tobar an Dualchais / Kist o Riches
ActiveDescription
Tobar an Dualchais, also known as Kist o Riches, is an online archive of Scotland's oral heritage, preserving and giving access to recordings of songs, music, history, poetry and tradition in Scottish Gaelic, Scots and English. It is managed by Sabhal Mor Ostaig, with a steering group drawn from the University of Edinburgh, the National Trust for Scotland and the BBC. The recordings it publishes come from several holding institutions, and digital rights in the material are held jointly by the managing partner and the University of Edinburgh. Alongside the archive it runs public engagement work, including an interactive map of recording locations, a songwriting programme and a blog. It also contributes its recordings to a partner led research project working on Gaelic speech technology.
