DG Culture

Active

Description

The museums service of Dumfries and Galloway Council runs seventeen museums, galleries and heritage venues across the region, from Annan and Dumfries to Stranraer and Kirkcudbright, and publishes its programme under the DG Culture name. It maintains its own collections database and offers help with object identification and with local and family history research. Two of its collections are recognised by Museums Galleries Scotland as collections of national significance. The archaeology collection is council-owned and held across five sites, four of the council's own museums together with the independent Whithorn Trust. The Kirkcudbright artists collection is held solely at Kirkcudbright Galleries. The service runs a year-round exhibition and events programme across its venues.
