Live Borders

Description

Live Borders is the charitable trust that runs culture and leisure services across the Scottish Borders on behalf of Scottish Borders Council, including its museums, galleries, libraries and the Scottish Borders Archive. It was incorporated in 2003 as Borders Sport and Leisure Trust and took on cultural services from the council in April 2016, adopting its present name. Its archive operates from the Heritage Hub in Hawick, holds ARCHON code 1097, and offers a booked search room, a paid remote research service and an on-site genealogy centre; the service reports supporting over fourteen hundred researchers in the year to March 2024. Among its collections is the Bernat Klein textile design archive, held at the Borders Textile Towerhouse. The Heritage Hub has also hosted the Internment Research Centre, established in 2018 with Archaeology Scotland, Aston University and Edinburgh Napier University on funding from the Arts and Humanities Research Council that ran to 2019.
