Peeblesshire Archaeological Society

Active

Description

Peeblesshire Archaeological Society was formed in 1994 to study the archaeology and history of Tweeddale in the Scottish Borders. It ran its own excavation at Shootinglee from 2012 to 2022, publishing an interim report for every year of the dig and a set of trench-level data structure reports in 2024, all freely available on its website alongside reports on other sites in the area. Its fieldwork results are also published annually through Discovery and Excavation in Scotland, the national fieldwork record issued by Archaeology Scotland. The society meets monthly for lectures, produces a members' newsletter, and jointly presents an annual memorial lecture with the Tweeddale Society, choosing the speaker in alternate years.
