Glasgow Information Retrieval Group

Active

Description

The Glasgow Information Retrieval Group, in the School of Computing Science at the University of Glasgow, has researched information retrieval since 1986. Its work covers search and ranking over very large collections, machine learning and deep learning for retrieval, natural language processing for search, and conversational search.

Among its application areas is the sensitivity review of government records, which develops tools to help archivists judge whether records can be opened to the public. This strand has been carried out with The National Archives, including the Abaca project, and continues through research on the automatic classification of sensitivity in digital records.
