Open Data Manchester
ActiveDescription
Open Data Manchester is a Manchester based not-for-profit community interest company that promotes the responsible and intelligent use of data across Greater Manchester and beyond. Established as an open data community in 2010 and constituted as a community interest company in 2017, it runs advocacy, research, training and community events, and delivers commissioned data strategy and governance work whose profits support its free community programmes. Its arts and humanities facing work includes Design Justice North, a critical design community exploring how design and data should be done with communities rather than for them, and place based events drawing on psychogeography to explore community life. It also produces critical writing on data and place, arguing that datasets cannot capture lived experience, and maintains a Declaration for Responsible and Intelligent Data Practice.
