CoSTAR Network

Active

Description

The CoSTAR Network is the United Kingdom's national research and development infrastructure for the creative industries, giving creative companies access to advanced facilities, connectivity and research expertise across a distributed set of five specialist labs. It serves the screen, film, television, gaming, performance, digital entertainment and immersive and virtual production sectors, and it runs funding calls, access programmes and business support to move creative research and development from concept to market ready pilots. The network comprises five labs: the National Lab, hosted by Royal Holloway, University of London, with a flagship facility opening at Pinewood Studios in 2026; the Screen Lab at Studio Ulster in Belfast, led by Ulster University; the Live Lab at Production Park in Wakefield, led by the University of York; the Realtime Lab in Dundee, led by Abertay University; and the Foresight Lab, led by Goldsmiths, University of London. It is funded through the UKRI Infrastructure Fund and delivered by the Arts and Humanities Research Council.
