National Gallery X (NGX)
ActiveDescription
National Gallery X (NGX) is a research and development programme and studio at the National Gallery, London, run in partnership with King's College London, that explores the role new technologies could play in the galleries and museums of the future. NGX describes itself as an ambitious project at the forefront of digital innovation, and provides a space for residencies and events where artists and creatives explore experimental technologies alongside critical arts, humanities and social science research on culture and the (digital) creative industries at King's. Its work combines immersive technologies, including large-screen video, digital projection, audio, motion capture and virtual reality, with the art and audiences of the Gallery, and spans projects, commissions and residencies addressing artificial intelligence, robotics, 5G and other emerging technologies. NGX was launched in 2019 and forms part of an innovation lab associated with the DCMS Culture is Digital policy programme.
