British Crime Historians Symposium (BCHS)
ActiveDescription
The British Crime Historians Symposium (BCHS) is a recurring academic forum that meets every two to three years to discuss and debate original historical research on all aspects of crime, policing, punishment, law, criminal justice and social regulation. Since its first meeting in 2008, the symposium has become a leading forum in this field. It welcomes proposals for papers, panels and other session formats across medieval to modern history, especially (though not exclusively) in connection with Britain, including imperial and transnational histories linking modern British history with global legacies of colonialism. Submissions come from across history, criminology, English, law, socio-legal studies and sociology, and from postgraduate and early career researchers. Postgraduate presenters may submit for the Clive Emsley Prize, awarded for the best postgraduate paper at the conference.
