Association of Law Teachers (ALT)

Active

Description

The Association of Law Teachers (ALT) is a community of academics, professionals and practitioners engaged in legal education internationally. Founded in 1965 to represent the growing interest in law in Regional Colleges of Technology, further education colleges and schools, the Association now engages largely with university-based legal education. Its members support legal learning across schools, colleges, universities and professional sectors, on campus, face-to-face and online. The Association aims to inspire and celebrate excellence in law teaching and to share the understanding and practice of legal learning. Members receive the journal The Law Teacher: The International Journal of Legal Education (four issues per year) with archive access, a regular e-bulletin, a discounted annual conference rate, and eligibility for its grants and awards schemes. The Association arranges interactive conferences and events and responds to policy and regulatory matters on behalf of members. Its charitable objects are the advancement of legal education for the public benefit, in particular the development, study, understanding and use of the educational aspects of law and its teaching.
