Committee of Heads of University Law Schools (CHULS)

Active

Description

The Committee of Heads of University Law Schools (CHULS) is a learned society representing Law Schools in the UK and their interests, promoting mutual respect and active cooperation between Law Schools regionally, nationally and internationally. With approximately 75 member Law Schools, it provides a collegiate forum for Heads of Law Schools to discuss the management of legal education and legal research. The Committee promotes the public profile of Law Schools, coordinates Law School representation on external bodies, and develops co-operation between institutions across the UK Higher Education sector and internationally. It works with other learned associations of law on matters of mutual interest and represents its members in communications with the legal professions' regulatory bodies and other sectoral and government agencies. CHULS organises professional development events and seminars on legal education, legal research and law school leadership, runs a mentoring scheme for new or incoming Heads of School, and hosts an annual. residential conference.
