Hansard Society

Description

The Hansard Society is the UK's independent charity dedicated to strengthening Parliament. Acting as Westminster's 'critical friend', the Society provides insight into how Parliament works, why it matters, and how it can be more effective. Founded in 1944 as a non-partisan membership organisation, it receives no public funding from Government or Parliament, and its independence and impact depend on the support of its members and donors. Its work spans research and analysis (publications, briefings, the Despatch Box blog, procedural and constitutional guides, and the Parliamentary Affairs journal), public engagement (the Parliament Matters podcast and weekly Bulletin), education (an international education programme), and projects on delegated legislation and political engagement.
