Description

Privacy International is a registered charity based in London that works at the intersection of modern technologies and human rights. Founded in 1990, the organisation works to promote the human right to privacy globally by raising awareness of threats to privacy, monitoring and reporting on surveillance methods, working at national and international levels to strengthen privacy protections, and seeking technological means to protect personal information. The organisation challenges governments and corporations whose uses of technology (including AI-driven profiling, facial recognition, data exploitation, and automated decision-making) undermine democratic freedoms and individual dignity. Its AI-related work encompasses legal challenges, regulatory advocacy, investigative research, and engagement with international human rights bodies.
