Description

Demos is Britain's leading cross-party think tank, founded in 1993. Its mission is to upgrade democracy and build new relationships between citizens, the state, and institutions. Research is structured around four strategic pillars: Everyday Democracy, Public Service Reform, the Citizen Economy, and Resilient Information Ecosystems, with technology and AI cutting across all four. Demos Digital (formerly CASM), the organisation's digital policy research hub, leads on trustworthy technology and AI governance, working to align technological development with public values and democratic needs. Recent AI-related output includes research on openness in AI models, generative AI's impacts on democracy, UK compute capacity, deepfake regulation, and AI risks to electoral integrity. Demos is an open-access publisher; all new publications are available free to download.
