Queer Intersections Oxford
Description
Launched in 2021, Queer Intersections is a new TORCH network that convenes a diverse coalition of scholars, activists, and artists to consider their role in the production of knowledge related to identity, power, and their intersections.
In a departure from the previous Queer Studies Network, members envision a specifically interdisciplinary space for LGBTQ+ students, researchers, and allies which commits to platforming underrepresented groups, specifically trans people and queer BIPOC, and crip/queer disabled people.
Queer Intersections maintain the importance of preserving academic space for queer topics in Oxford as there is limited space for queer, feminist, and trans studies in the university; members believe that queer studies sits at a nexus of shifting conversations between disciplines, and they propose to create space to negotiate those intersections. They meet weekly for lectures, book launches, reading groups, seminars, workshops and research lunches. All are warmly welcome to participate.
