Digital Humanities and Sensory Heritage Network
Description
How can digital humanities tools reshape the understanding of historic objects and spaces in relation to the senses? Can 3D modelling and printing aid in reconstructing the material and sensory aspects of artifacts and architecture? In what ways does virtual reality provide opportunities to experience the sensory dynamics of historical places and events? What is the significance of preserving sensory heritage on cloud-based museum platforms? How do GIS mapping tools redefine the perception of past soundscapes?
The Digital Humanities and Sensory Heritage (DHSH) network unites scholars, digital technicians, curators, museum professionals, and performers to critically explore the diverse ways in which digital humanities tools can be utilized to reassess heritage and the senses.
The DHSH network operates under the following strategic objectives:
- Establishing a community of researchers who collaborate on the intersection of sensory heritage and digital humanities across various disciplines and sectors.
- Offering a platform for sharing knowledge, methodologies, experiences, and best practices in digitally investigating historic objects, spaces, and events in relation to the senses.
- Providing an experimental space to demonstrate and deploy the latest digital humanities tools in connection with heritage, and facilitating discussions with cultural heritage practitioners, policymakers, museum professionals, and the general public.
The DHSH network hosts a variety of events throughout the year and is open to all, including academics, curators, technicians, performers, makers, and members of the public.
