Association for Welsh Writing in English (AWWE)

Description

The Association originated as a completely private initiative in December 1984, when individuals from five of the colleges of the then University of Wales (Aberystwyth, Bangor, Cardiff, Lampeter and Swansea) met at Swansea to discuss establishing an organisation to promote the study of Welsh writing in English.

The Association is also responsible for producing a scholarly journal, the International Journal of Welsh Writing in English, published by the University of Wales Press in collaboration with leading digital Open Access provider the Open Library of Humanities. This is the only scholarly journal dedicated solely to the study of Welsh writing in English, in all its forms, from its earliest origins to the present day.
