Dementia Services Development Centre (DSDC)
Description
The Dementia Services Development Centre (DSDC) has an international reputation for interdisciplinary ageing and dementia research. The centre's work is situated within the global trend for longevity and international policy ambitions for healthy ageing, addressing major societal challenges around living as well as possible with chronic and degenerative health conditions, specialising in dementia research.
Researchers work closely with older people, people living with dementia and their carers, together with health and social care professionals to ensure the centre's research will make a difference, improve the quality of care and inform policy and practice development.
Members collaborate with colleagues in Europe through DSDC's membership of INTERDEM, a European research network.
The centre's research central themes are:
- health, well-being and resilience - living as well as possible;
- health and social care improvements;
- the arts in health and social care.
