Description

The Centre for Law and Social Justice is an interdisciplinary legal research centre at De Montfort University. Its work addresses injustice, informs regulatory, legal and social policy reform, and supports the building of resilient societies, in what the centre describes as a context of increasing inequality, economic uncertainty, health and environmental concerns, and a lack of trust in governments and institutions. It brings together academics, practitioners and doctoral students in an international and interdisciplinary research community committed to the public good.

The centre states core values of equality and citizenship, participation and inclusion, and social responsibility, while also examining how such values are themselves constructed and critiqued. Its members work with communities and with global, national and local organisations to drive social justice and to strengthen legal and regulatory frameworks. The centre sits within the university's Institute for Responsible Business and Social Justice.
