Reproduction Research Group, King's College London
ActiveDescription
The Reproduction Research Group, earlier called the Reproduction Research Cluster, is a group in the Department of Global Health & Social Medicine at King's College London that describes itself as a community of scholars and students interested in the social study of reproduction. The interdisciplinary group regularly comes together to examine the complex social, cultural and political dimensions of reproduction. Its work analyses a wide range of reproductive technologies, actively engages with reproductive politics and is driven by a commitment to reproductive justice.
It hosts a range of outward-facing events for reproduction professionals, including the Reproduction Salon, film screenings and the Reproductive Justice After Roe seminar series. The Salon is billed as open to everyone working on reproduction, including scholars, writers, clinicians, activists, regulators, podcasters and PhD students. Its activities have also included the Abortion at the Borderlines conference (April 2023), on transgressive abortion politics, practices and imaginations, run with Feminist Perspectives and the Gender Studies Network at King's, and its seminar series, co-hosted with the Gender Studies Network, followed the decision of the US Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade in June 2022.
