Toward a new Collaborative Computational Project for Arts, Humanities, and Culture (CCP-AHC)
ActiveDescription
CCP-AHC (Toward a new Collaborative Computational Project for Arts, Humanities, and Culture) is a UKRI-funded scoping initiative. Its mission is to support the sustainable development of research software, workflows, and pipelines for computationally intensive arts, humanities, and culture (AHC) research, powered by UK Digital Research Infrastructure (DRI). It supports the development of research software, workflows, and pipelines for AHC researchers using UK-based compute infrastructure, and promotes effective use of publicly funded infrastructure, including high-performance computing (HPC) and advanced computing systems across UKRI and higher education institutions. Collaborative Computational Projects (CCPs) have supported scientific software communities for decades, and CCP-AHC explores how this model can be applied to AHC research.
The project is delivered by a team of researchers at Durham University, the University of Brighton and the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC), with support from the Computational Science Centre for Research Communities (CoSeC). It is collaboratively developing a multi-year roadmap for a new research software community, to be delivered to STFC and UKRI by the end of 2026, and plans to co-ordinate a bid to establish a new CCP for up to five years, expected to be submitted in 2027. Its activities include a monthly online Community Forum on DRI access and workflows and a call for research codes, workflows and pipelines. It held regional engagement events in 2025 and Town Hall meetings in 2025 and 2026. Follow CCP-AHC on GitHub and Zenodo, or sign up to its announcements list.
