Social Movements and Civil Society Research Group (SMCSRG)
ActiveDescription
The Social Movements and Civil Society Research Group (SMCSRG), established in 2014, is composed of academics and researchers working across the schools of Law, Business, Policy and Global Affairs, and Communication and Creativity at City St George’s, University of London. It aims to offer a forum for ongoing dialogue and debate amongst scholars across schools who are engaged in studies related to questions of domestic and transnational activism, economic and social justice, social movement strategy and civil society. The group holds research seminars and workshops and makes reports of its events available on its website. In June 2026, as one of its relaunch activities, it jointly organised a workshop on strategies for civil society and social movements in a transformed global order with the International Relations Specialist Group of the Political Studies Association.
