Health and Wellbeing Research Cluster, Sheffield
ActiveDescription
The Health and Wellbeing cluster of the School of Information, Journalism and Communication at the University of Sheffield focuses on the use and management of digital technologies, medical data and/or healthcare information, digital as well as paper-based, to support health care professionals, and health and wellbeing for patients, caregivers and the public. It explores the use of information within healthcare, spanning both digital and paper-based information systems, and examines the information used by patients, their families, carers, health care and services professionals, and the public. Its key research areas are the analysis of health data and information; the evaluation of health information systems (needs and information behaviours); women’s health; and the promotion of positive health outcomes in the global South. Its members use diverse qualitative and quantitative methodologies, from surveys, statistical and data mining methods and generative AI technologies to interviews, focus groups, thematic analyses and critical discourse analyses.
