Artificial Intelligence Research Cluster, Sheffield
Description
The Artificial Intelligence cluster of the School of Information, Journalism and Communication at the University of Sheffield conducts socio-technical research in information, journalism and communication, investigating (responsible) AI as a technology, a process, and an imaginary shaping and being shaped by society. Its research interests lie in understanding and studying how data, Artificial Intelligence solutions and society interact with and influence one another. These interests align with the use and application of AI; the development and creation of novel AI solutions, applied within specific application contexts; and the impact of AI in shaping and being shaped by society. Members of the cluster are PhD researchers, postdoctoral researchers and academics. The cluster reports organising research presentations, lightning talks and technical demonstrations and masterclasses, workshops to develop ideas for collaborative projects and papers, and technical and methodological workshops for hands-on learning and implementation of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning solutions.
