Centre for Heritage, Arts, Community and Cultural Engagement
ActiveDescription
The Centre for Heritage, Arts, Community and Cultural Engagement describes its aim as using Arts and Humanities research to connect communities, culture and heritage through creative participation and storytelling. One of the Research and Knowledge Exchange Centres of St Mary’s University, Twickenham, it has three research groups: Intangible Cultural Heritage; Experience, Immersion and Interpretation; and Community, Place and Cultural Participation, the last with a focus on Twickenham and South-East London. Members of the centre co-curated the exhibition Sensing and Feeling in Hogarth’s World with Hogarth’s House, where it was shown until 16 November 2025. The centre reports that it is working with the curatorial team at the Panacea Museum on a further exhibition, and that one of its members, in collaboration with the organisers of the Twickenham High Tide festival, is conducting surveys and interviews with visitors. It will host the Social History Society’s annual conference in 2027.
