Methodologies Research Group, Newcastle
Description
The Methodologies Research Group at Newcastle Law School, Newcastle University, brings together colleagues from within and outside of legal academia to foreground how research is done. It welcomes all types of approaches, including doctrinal, socio-legal, critical, comparative and interdisciplinary ones. It aims to provide a forum for internal and external speakers to present on the methodological aspects of their work and to help build capacity around research methods and methodological interrogations. In September 2025 the Law School hosted a two-day symposium on legal methods and legal methodologies, with topics including utopias, queer legal methods, law and the archive, qualitative research methods, interdisciplinary legal methodologies, and law and technology.
