Description

Lawyering, Rights and Justice is a research group in Newcastle Law School, Newcastle University, that brings together colleagues who are interested in social justice and how law can contribute to wider societal change. The group explores different areas of law with a legal but also contextual and interdisciplinary perspective, placing law in context by considering the society within which law evolves. Its work includes criminal justice, with trafficking, modern slavery and restorative justice among its topics; judging and lawyering, including courts and tribunals, climate cases and well-being in the legal profession; rights beyond human rights; and justice processes such as mediation, alternative dispute resolution and access to justice.
