Centre for the Critical Study of Apocalyptic and Millenarian Movements, Cambridge (CenSAMM)

Active

Description

The Centre for the Critical Study of Apocalyptic and Millenarian Movements (CenSAMM) is based in the Faculty of Divinity, University of Cambridge. It was established in 2015 to promote high quality critical and academic research into apocalyptic and millenarian movements across time, place and culture, and it is supported by the Panacea Charitable Trust. Its core activities include an online dictionary, the Critical Dictionary of Apocalyptic and Millenarian Movements (CDAMM), an annual conference, symposia and the dissemination of research, alongside seminar series and podcasts. The centre is not religiously aligned and seeks to foster scholarship in the field without taking a confessional standpoint, and an important function is promoting public understanding of the issues surrounding the study of apocalyptic and millenarian movements.
