Centre for Eastern European and Eurasian Studies, Southampton (CEEES)

Description

The Centre for Eastern European and Eurasian Studies (CEEES) at the University of Southampton is an interdisciplinary research centre dedicated to advancing knowledge of a complex region that has been of key significance in shaping both historical and contemporary developments across the world. Its members, based across three different faculties, combine a variety of forms of disciplinary and methodological expertise with linguistic and area studies skills, and the centre aims to promote research and knowledge exchange on the region at the University of Southampton and in the wider community. Its activity has included a seminar series on the humanitarian, cultural and political dimensions of the 2022 invasion of Ukraine and a workshop on masculinity and postsocialism in 2023, with participants from history, film studies, anthropology, sociology, media studies and modern languages.
