Description

The Ukrainian Institute London (UIL) is an independent charity dedicated to championing Ukrainian culture and shaping the conversation about Ukraine in the UK and beyond. Through its programme of events, educational courses and digital content, it provides audiences with information about Ukraine. It was founded in the 1970s as a centre of learning and cultural exchange in the UK, beginning as the London affiliate of the Ukrainian Catholic University (then in Rome), was registered as a charity in England and Wales in 2016, and is affiliated with the Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv. Its projects include the London Ukrainian Review, an open-access journal founded in 2021, the Ukraine Shelf podcast, the annual Ukrainian Film Festival, workshops and a prize for Ukrainian literature in translation, and the history course Istoria: lessons for the present.
