RISM (UK) Trust

Description

The RISM (UK) Trust was founded in 1984 to oversee the identification of printed and manuscript musical sources in UK libraries and archives, and has co-ordinated the UK contribution to the international RISM programme since then. It is a registered charity whose object is to advance the education of the public in music by the making available of information on sources of music.

From 2001 to 2007 the Trust was a project partner, with the British Library and Royal Holloway, University of London, in the UK Music Manuscripts (1600-1800) Project, funded through the AHRC's Resource Enhancement Scheme. In 2020 funds from Royal Holloway replaced the RISM UK database with a portal and supported a scoping study that explored the online catalogues of over 60 county record offices and local archives. The Trust reports that it continues to develop plans for future projects in collaboration with universities, libraries and archives.
